GuestLogix announces next gen Point-of-Sale software with ‘iPhone-like’ interface and expanded functionality to manage onboard retail operations
New software receives VISA PABP certification and PA-DSS validation for security compliance
January 27, 2009 — TORONTO, ONT — GuestLogix Inc. (TSX-V: GXI), the leading provider of onboard retail systems to airlines, today released details about its next generation Mobile Virtual Store™ Point-of-Sale software for airlines. Running on Microsoft Windows CE, the GuestLogix software features ‘iPhone-like’ user experience and workflow allowing flight attendants to easily and quickly manage a growing number of onboard transactions using a simple touch interface.
GuestLogix also announced that its new software has met all the PCI Security Standard Council’s compliance mandates and is in the enviable position of having one of the few, if not only, airline POS applications that meets the most current payment security standards as validated according to the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS).
“Our passing of PA-DSS Security Audit Procedures assures carriers that GuestLogix has one of the most secure retail solutions on the market,” said Tom Douramakos, President and CEO, GuestLogix. “Having a globally-recognized and validated solution allows us to work easily and seamlessly with the world’s major global payment card brands to support the sale of existing and new products and services onboard.”
The PCI Security Standards Council was formed by the major payment card brands American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc. PA-DSS is the Council-managed program formerly managed by Visa Inc. and known as the Payment Application Best Practices (PABP). The goal of PA-DSS is to help software vendors and others develop secure payment applications that do not store prohibited data, such as full magnetic stripe, other sensitive authentication data or PIN data, and ensure their payment applications support compliance with the PCI DSS. PA-DSS requirements apply to payment applications that are sold, distributed or licensed to third parties.
“Our new POS software complements the release of our latest POS handheld device, OnBoard PowerSeller 2 with PIN Pad and PCI PED 2.0 certification,” said Jose-Manuel Aldomar, Vice President Product at GuestLogix. “Their combination is designed to yield unprecedented flexibility with secure onboard retail deployments and management.”
The GuestLogix Mobile Virtual Store™ POS Software offers multiple interface layers that can be configured in any language to the type of operation and business environment. For example, the POS features can be configured for short or long flights, cashless or multiple payment environments. The Payment functions can be configured to support any forms of payment and currency, including Chip & PIN or electronic signature linked to amount thresholds per currency to minimize risk. The Data Transmission function encrypts sensitive data as per PCI DSS methods and uses secure transmission protocols for packet data distribution over cellular and WiFi networks. The POS software is linked to web-based applications: the POS Manager which handles the POS software administration and updates, configuration, security, transmission and integration functions; and, the Asset Manager which provides device and parts management and tracking along with repairs.
