Job Description

As a member of the Management team and reporting to the Vice President, Information Technology, the Logistics Manager is to coordinate the movement of hardware shipments, as requested by customers, maintain a thorough knowledge of the Inventory System, and track all hardware deployed in the field.

We require a person who can demonstrate the essential skills of communicating and working in a small team environment as well as a proactive approach to dealing with the day-to-day operational issues as they arise in this business function.

The Logistics Manager will work closely with Operations and the Administration/Finance department. Specific duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Spearhead and implement opportunities for process improvement (including automation), cost savings, leverage of technology, and improved service within the distribution network, creating or ensuring best practice evolution.
  • Evaluate planned work orders for accuracy, consistency and feasibility.
  • Investigate and resolve escalated issues concerning material availability and service requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive metrics, analysis, and reports to senior management.
  • Track all hardware and hardware accessories deployed in the field to ensure an accurate inventory count is available at all times.
  • Daily updates to hardware inventory and tracking system.
  • Coordinate shipments - Importing/Exporting of product to Canada, USA and abroad as needed.
  • Import & export documentation, custom declaration, shipment booking & arrangement, etc.
  • Forecast increasingly complex systems of stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and performance evaluation.
  • Establish a working relationship and procedure with the relevant party(s) to ensure that there is no unnecessary delay in product entering different countries.
  • Oversee the delivery, facilitate the release from customs and ensure subsequent internal delivery, registration and documentation of all hardware.
  • Liaise with the relevant party(s) to ensure that all logistics matters affecting the operation are adequate, agreed to and fully documented.
  • Review and amend all the logistics procedures including logistics SOP as required.
  • Manage delivery schedule of product to ensure adequate supply as required by production.
  • Work with staff to successfully complete assignments while consistently meeting daily requirements.
  • Oversee stock levels and reorder points in inventory and spare pool and advise appropriate personnel to replenish stock.
  • Analyze data to monitor performance and plan improvements;
  • Allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs;
  • Analyze logistical problems and producing new solutions.
  • Manage staff training issues; Motivating other members of the team
  • Other duties as assigned

Key Qualifications and Competencies:

Candidates require a minimum of 5 to 10 years domestic and/or international logistics experience in the areas listed above, combined with a University degree and/or other relevant field. Additionally, experience with logistics systems and best practices to ensure process efficiency and improved service is required.
