Job Description
As a member of the Management team and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the corporate controller will contribute to the development and implementation of the Corporation’s strategic plan while delivering the highest level of integrity and compliance to all jurisdictional, regulatory, and GAAP requirements.
As the Finance team leader, the corporate controller will grow and develop their team and champion the development of budgeting, accounting, reporting, and analytical processes. Managing the day to day accounting, treasury and finance requirements with a hands-on approach will also be a key part of their duties. The corporate controller will ensure the management team has timely, detailed, and accurate monthly reports, variance analysis, and financial trend analysis necessary for effective, proactive decision-making.
Further, the corporate controller will ensure the integrity, reliability and efficiency of the financial systems as well as ensure internal control systems meet the needs of our entrepreneurial business. Working with the management team, you will lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual operating and capital budgets for the corporation, reflecting the established objectives, plans, and priorities. You have initiative and strive for continuous improvement and will continually evaluate ways to streamline or improve the budgeting and control systems.
Key Qualifications and Competencies:
- Recognized Accounting designation (CA or CMA)
- Demonstrated ability in leading and developing staff with strong interpersonal skills
- Strong skill-set in corporate accounting including budgets, financial statements and year-end audits
- Minimum 5 years post-designation professional work experience
- Public company work experience is a strong asset
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with strong analytic and problem resolution abilities
- Results-oriented, self-starter with ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and business and financial/accounting acumen
